Cherokee lived mainly throughout the southern and south central area of what is now the united states. That is not to say that is the only place they were located, bands of Cherokee were spread out over a vast area east of the 'plains' and often intermingled with other tribes.
The Cherokee were the largest southeastern Woodland tribe at the time of European contact. The Cherokee Nation was the largest federally recognized tribe in the United States, but the Navajo Nation has overtaken them in recent years.
Cherokee is Native American people. They are considered as important people because they have invested a lot of things and culture that still exist in present time.

If someone gives you a Cherokee Rose it first symbolized the love (not necessarily romantic) the giver has for the receiver and how the giver wants to offer hope during a trying time in the receiver's life.

Most Cherokee Indian women wore dresses called tear dresses. Actually that is incorrect. According to record, during the 1970's the Cherokee Nation adopted the tear dress as the official dress in honor of the Trail of Tears. It is to commerate the memory of what happened to their ancestors. The tear dress was never worn by the Cherokee during that time period. The dress worn during that time was commonly reffered to as a sleeveless buckskin plain dress that was about thigh length. They were belted at the waist with a hand-woven belt and pinned at the top with bone pins or carved broaches. A deer-hide scarf was worn around the neck and tucked into the top of the dress. A knitted or woven under-skirt, made of wild hemp, went from the waist to the knees, and had long fringes that went to the ankles.
If you take care of it, a long time. However if you don't, it will break down all the time. A friend of mine has a 88 Cherokee with almost 750k miles, go figure

President Andrew Jackson was the official who approved of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. There were five major tribes: the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole. The Cherokee challenged the Indian Removal Act in the courts of the United States. It made its way up to the Supreme Court where it went under the supervision of John Marshall. He ruled the favor to the Cherokee. Note the Supreme Court could make the ruling but cannot enforce it, only the executive branch (the president) has the power to do so. The president at that time, Andrew Jackson ignored the decision of the Supreme Court and stilled removed the Indians from their land.

The period in Indian history under British rule during the early to mid-19th century is often referred to as the 'seeding time of Indian Nationalism'. This was a time when the initial seeds of nationalist sentiment began to take root, leading to the eventual rise of the Indian independence movement in the early 20th century. Prominent figures during this period included Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Dadabhai Naoroji, and Surendranath Banerjee, who advocated for Indian rights and self-governance.
