From my understanding this question shows a lack of comprehension. Lucifer, or Satan, is refusing to play God's game. That's what rebellion is. Nonetheless, if God maps out Lucifer's will, limited by his own, God's, I mean, constraints, then all Lucifer, or Satan, if that applies as appropriate, has to do is what he wants. Lucifer's attitude is that he doesn't want to live under God's kingdom or rulership, and as God, God, I mean, there is no way that he can be defeated. The Bible says likewise, referring to Satan: "for he knows his time is short". So Satan, or Lucifer's, belief, is plain: He knows he is limited on time to get what he wants done, he knows in time he will be defeated. It's what rebellion is! Like a teenager, or a criminal, that knows he's going to be caught, or a child, even leaving the evidence behind ...
