check/replace the engine coolant level sensor located in the engine coolant overflow reservior (located at the rear of the engine compartment pass. side)
I had a similar problem with my 1996 JGC. Turned out to be the alternator. The radio went out and the AC, along with the dashboard guages. Get it fixed soon or it could do more damage to your electrical system.
You can't. The 1994 JGC has Quadra Trac, all the time 4 wheel drive. It should never go into 2 wheel drive. If it does, have your Jeep looked at immediately.
I had a very similar problem with my 1996 Nissan truck. New plugs, wires, distributor and rotor only partly solved the problem. Then I replaced the O2 sensor and the probelm disappeared completely. Had 130K miles on the truck when replaced and the O2 sensor was shot.
Remove Battery Cables And Clean Very Good. Look For Corrorion Beneath The Plastic On The Cable Ends. I Have Had This Happen. It Was So Bad I Had To Replace The Neg. Cable. HOPE THIS HELPS
according to motorweek the 2002 JGC in the overland trim averaged 118ft 60mph-0
There are two separate sensors that play here. the "coolant temperature sensor" and "coolant LEVEL sensor". I suggest confirming which of these was replaced, as it is very common for them to be confused. likely you will find the coolant sensor that was replaced was the one on the engine (temperature); The LEVEL sensor is mounted either in the coolant resivoir or in the radiator. Probably just need the proper sensor replaced.
most common cause is the crank sensor mounted to the transmission bellhousing, the wire harness usually cracks and shorts wires near sensor. also the fuel pump will not work unless it receives signal from crank sensor
I had the same problem it was the crank shaft positioning sensor, not the camshaft positioning sensor, very different. Kinda a pain to get to but an easy and cheep fix once it is in.
its right on the fan on the front of engine
I have a 1995 JGC 5.2l V-8 still going strong at 218,000 mls. I get 15-16 mpg city, close to 20mpg highway.
Julia Garcia Combs goes by JGC.

A radiator fan is designed to operate only when the coolant is very hot, and the motor is in danger of overheating. You do not have a problem unless the motor overheats after sitting still idling for prolonged periods of time.
13PSI is the minimal at 600 rpm, 30-45PSI at 1,600 rpm

I hade the same trouble with a 99 JGC with the 4.0 engine. I found it to be a solonoid inside the trans that kept it from shifting.
its on thepassenger side kick panel on my 96 jgc maybe yours to.
