If you mean how many different kinds of birds there are 5 If you mean how many total there are given in total (Not including partregde in a pear tree) 22 turtle doves, 30 french hens, 36 calling birds, 36 geese, and 45 swans :)

The second day : Two turtle doves
The third day : Three French hens
The fourth day: Four calling birds
The sixth day : Six geese a-laying
The seventh day: Seven swans a-swimming
A total of six day's presents were birds, although technically at least one bird was given on each day (since all previous gifts were given on each day, plus one new gift, for example, the fifth day saw the giving of the following five gifts: Five golden rings, Four calling birds, Three French hens, Two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree).
The number of birds given in total, therefore, is:
Partridges: 1x12 = 12
Turtle-doves: 2x11 = 22
French Hens: 3x10 = 30
Calling Birds: 4x9 = 36
Geese: 6x7 = 42
Swans: 7x6 = 42
