While her message of non-conformity and self-expression might be easy to misinterpret as condoning anti-social behavior, it's not even genuine. Avril Lavigne is as much a marketing construct as any other manufactured pop musician, instead approaching the Hot Topic angle of "I'm a teen, I'm mad at my parents, I want to rebel... but not be too far from the mainstream."

She frequently contradicts herself in interviews, sends mixed messages, and is otherwise tightly controlled by her agents, PR team, and image consultants. Her total lack of identity is a very good reason she's a bad role model: everything she does is intended only to sell more CDs, tickets, and merchandise.

depends.... she is my role model. but yet i am 14. well i don't think personally that she would be a good role model for kids age- 1-10

but i don't think a 1 year old would listen to Avril lavigne.
