She is already dead when the show begins. I can’t find any info on how though, they probably didn’t care to explain it in the show.

Interesting though how people think that Miley Cyrus and Miley Stewart are the same people. Or that Hannah Montana is a real person. Maybe it is kids who answer these questions? Yes Miley Cyrus’ mom is still alive, but just like most TV characters, they don’t have their real mom playing their made up or dead mom lol

yes Hannah montanas mum is dead in the tv series but in real life Miley Cyrus who plays Hannah Montana; her mum is very much alive :)
