Any costume or lyrics that makes you think she is Satan, the Antichrist, or a member of some secret society is all done deliberately as a marketing ploy. The same goes for the rock and rollers of the 80's. The producers and managers all knew about the Satanic panic and knew a little controversy in that direction would spice things up and boost sales.
