Example, Nat and Alex's dad isn't really dorky and plays the accordion, but he is their dad in real-life; they pretend to be world-famous, like "The Beatles" and although they became big overtime they aren't as big as "The Beatles"; and Nat and Alex's mom isn't really dead. She's actress Polly Draper, probally best-known for her role on the late '80's and early '90's hit drama, "thirtysomething." Polly Draper is the director, writer, creator, and executive producer of the show.

Nat and Alex Wolff are real life brothers who's music is played on the show. But, it's exageratted. They pretend do be "world-famous" like The Beatles. And "documentary" cameras follow them in the street and the recording studio, concerts, and private lives. The show is written and directed by Nat and Alex's real life mom Polly Draper. And Nat and Alex's dad is in the show to. In real life, Michael Wolff is a jazz pianist-composer, in the show he's "Sonny Wolff" - a dorky and clueless Accordion player. And their cousin Jesse stars as the babysitter, their uncle stars as the principle, and other cousins guest star to. Nat and Alex star in the series with their real life friends from pre school.
