∙ 13y agoThe crash is used only for single hits, and often used in concert bands to emphasize certain beats in the musical piece, example: the accent at the end of a crescendo.
The suspended cymbal can be played with more versatility, it can be used for a riding beat (where it is hit often with the beat), but is most often used for rolls, especially in crescendos. When the two cymbals are used together, it brings much more substance to the concert band.
