Is a flute a lame instrument?

I don't think so; lots of people play it, and it sounds nice, plus it's been around for a really long time so I think people would have trashed it at some point if they didn't like the sound or whatever. The modern Flute isn't bulky or awkward, so you wouldn't look ridiculous playing it or toting it around. Of course, what you consider "lame" is an opinion, but not many people are going to consider you to be a loser because you play the flute. Some younger people may consider it girly, but some of the greatest flutists ever have been men.
