What does ukulele mean in Hawaiian?

It is Hawaiian and there are two translations. It means jumping flea, based on the fast fingers of those that played it. It can mean "the gift that came here" - it is the name they gave the small stringed instruments they saw being played by Portuguese immigrants. The Hawaiian's are very fond of double meanings. When Europeans came to Hawaii, they brought many things, including fleas. The Hawaiian's called the flea a 'gift' brought by the visitors.

What are the notes of the violin from lowest to highest?

Well, there are 4 main strings. In order from lowest to highest, it is G, D, A and E being the highest. One finger on the G string is A. Two fingers is B. Three is C and four are D, making the same noise as the open D string. One finger on the D string is E. Two fingers are F. Three fingers are G, and fourth ringer making the same noise as the open A string. One finger on the A string is B. Two fingers are C, and three fingers are D sharp. Fourth finger makes the same noise as open E. One finger on the open E string is F. Second finger is G, third finger is A, and fourth ringer is B, making that the highest note on the violin.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a band member?

Well, you get to rock n roll, have fun....rock!!! LOL. I'm guessing a disadvantage would be that drugs are major in the music industry, but, then again, that could be an advantage to some. Another disadvantage would be that you and the guys would be stuck on Ramen, if you're just starting out and broke. But, hey, Ramen isn't that bad. :) You might argue a lot with the others...but, hey, if music is your passion, you get to play it! And rock n roll, man!! :P

Is double jointed real?

Yes, technically, being double jointed is real, but the correct name for it is hypermobility or hyperlaxity, which is what doctors and other medical people will refer to it as. Look those words up and you can discover a little more about being hypermobile. I am double jointed, and can do lots of weird things from my shoulders to my fingers, so it does make me angry to see somebody who says being double jointed isn't real. It is, but they may call it something else. It's all the same thing.

Can you do push up double jointed in the arm?

Yes, you can unless you arm is bringing you pain, which rarely happens. I am double jointed from the shoulders down to my fingers and I find no problem. However, cases can be different so if it hurts, let your parents/guardian know and have them take you to a doctor. They will refer to being double jointed as hyperlaxity or being hypermobile, just to let you know.

Is Zayn Malik double jointed?

Is being double jointed gross?

Not necessarily. Although non-double-jointed people find the flexibility of double-jointed people appalling, it is a natural occurrence. It is just an ability that you were born with that others don't have, and since others don't have it, they find anything that they don't have appalling and 'gross'. Thus, being double-jointed is not gross, but a rather useful asset.

How do you know if your double jointed?

If you are double jointed you will be able to touch your thumb to your wrist on the same arm, pull your thumb behind your pointer finger on the same hand, and maybe be able to pull your legs back behind your head. These are just few of the tricks to know you are double jointed

Is there such thing as being double jointed?

It is not possible for one to be double jointed. If one can bend their back, leg, elbow, thumb, etc. in strange ways, then they might think that they are double jointed, but they aren't. It is just easier for them to bend their joints than other people. As the previous answerer stated, it is not possible to be double jointed (unless of course you had a strange birth defect in which an extra vestigial joint was made during your conception). The actual scientific term for "double-jointedness" is hyper-flexibility, the ability for a body part to flex, or bend, more freely than normal body parts.

What does being double jointed mean?

Being double jointed means that you can bend your joints more than the average person. There are many misunderstandings when it comes to the meaning of being double jointed. In one case, the term itself implies that double jointed people have twice the number of joints than normal human beings. Some even assume that double joints allow for twice the usual amount of motion. However, these meanings are myths. All human beings have the same number of bones and joints, all of which have similar capacities for movement.

Can people with double jointed knees have more trouble doing splits?

The concept of being "double jointed" is a myth as all humans (unless there is some form of birth defect) have the same number of joints. The term "double jointed" really means that the person has a wider range of motion than the average person, which is known as hypermobility. So a person who is more flexible would most likely have an easier time doing splits.

What is a common disadvantage of being colour blind?

Can someone with a double jointed ankle hurt it?

Yes, anyone with hyperextensive ankles can injure the ankle. As a matter of fact, those who are double jointed are more prone to injury because of the extended range of motion in the area affected. The heightened mobility increases instability and jeopardizes a person's chance of avoiding injury while doing sports or even every day things. Being double jointed in the ankle makes things difficult for dancers, especially, because they are required to use their ankles quite a lot. Similarly you may find that if you are hyperextensive in the ankle, you tend to roll inward when you walk or may have some difficulty walking in heels without your ankles 'giving out'.
