Best Answer

yes

They sound the same, but do not serve the same purpose in composition. For example, if you want to write an F major triad, you would have to write F, A, and C. F, A, and D double flat would be incorrect, as a triad must contain a root, a third, and a fifth.

Is d double flat the same note as c sharp?

If you go to a piano and count down 2 semitones you land on a C. D double flat is a C just with another name. Double flat means you flatten (lower) the note by 2 two semitones.

C flat is the same as what note?

C flat is the same as B natural.

What are the notes in the scale of C double-flat major?

Such a key only exists in theory and not in practice. In C-double-flat major, every single note (C D E F G A B C) would have a double-flat on it, and it would sound the same as B-flat major.

What is the emharmonic of d flat?

The enharmonic of a note is another note that sounds the same, so the enharmonic of d flat would be c sharp.

What is another name for the musical note b?

Can any note in an octave have an enharmonic - such as G-sharp and A-flat B and C-flat and A and B-double-flat etc?

I am guessing so... I've seen something like a key signature having a B-flat, and somewhere in the piece there is a flat in front of a B, so it would be a B-double-flat. If double flats are allowed, then it would be C,B-sharp;C-sharp,D-flat;D, E-double-flat; D-sharp, E-flat; E, F-flat;F,G-double-flat;F-sharp,G-flat;G,A-double-flat;G-sharp,A-flat;A,B-double-flat;and B,C-double-flat.

What is the function of sharp and flats?

Sharps are the note one semitone higher than a given natural note, for example, D-sharp is one semitone higherthan D.Flats are the note one semitone lower than a given natural note, so D-flat is one semitone lower than D.Natural signs get rid of a previous sharp or flat in the same bar, or raises or lowers a sharp or flat already included in the key signature - e.g. the F-sharp in G major.Sharps and flats can be modified further too - resulting in a double sharp or double flat - which means that any double sharp or double flat will be a whole tone higher or lower than a given natural note, for example, D double-sharp would be the same key as E and D double-flat would be the same as C. Again a natural sign would get rid of the double flat or sharp.Sometimes natural keys have to be named as either sharp or flat, e.g. in C-sharp minor the seventh degree is B, but we have to raise B to B-sharp to create a C-sharp harmonic minor scale, which uses a raised seventh. Now we could call the B-sharp 'C' but that would not be correct as we need to use all letter names in a diatonic scale, and technically the C is functioning as a raised B in the key or C-sharp minor.

What note is 2 semitones above B?

Db or D Flat or C# Or C Sharp, They Are The Same Notes

What is the B flat major scale?

Where is D double flat on the piano?

How do you play a c flat on a alto saxophone?

As on any instrument, C flat is one half step below C natural, and sounds the same as B. There are good technical reasons why a note might be notated as a C flat, but just play B.
