Yes to the satanic part and certainly also the heavy metal bit as well if the content is at all opposed to God's directions. If you are asking the question as a Christian in whom the Holy Spirit resides, then it's unlikely that you'd feel comfortable with doing so. Darkness has no business with light, even though the victory has been won ultimately. The scripture directions in Phillipians 4:8 to focus on whatever is true honest just pure and lovely would be relevant here. In 1 Thessalonians 5:5 Christians are reminded that they are the children of light and children of the day,and not of the night or of darkness.
As for the heavy metal music with Christian content, opinions vary. Some Christians - particularly those who have come out of a life where the heavy metal scene is inseparable from drugs etc. which caused them much unhappiness -would prefer to steer clear.

BUT, there are some alternatives to heavy metal. You have things like Diciple, Demon Hunter, Pillar, POD, and things like that. And MOST metal has vulgarality in it and so many hints of suicide that it depresses you and makes you believe that suicide is the way to go. Then you die, go to hell, and singe in burning flames for eternity. As it was said before, most Christians would prefer to steer clear. I believe that for music to be considered holy, and therefore fit for the ears of a Christian, the lyrics and the melody have to both harmonize with the Scriptures. That is to say, that unless the lyrics are as upright as the melody, which both should reflect our Savior without any lee way for the world, it could very well be considered as sin. If you think about it, it is just as bad to headbang to a heavy metal version of "Jesus loves me" as it is to "rock out" with the focus on the acid rock lyrics disguised by a sanctimonious tune.

In my view, it depends on the individual. But opinions are like arm pits and most stink. So having said that, are we as Christians better off by not listening to those things. Yeah. Is it in any thou shalt not list? No. Do I personally listen to such "questionable" stuff? Yeah, I love Slipknots music!
One thing to keep in mind about all of this: While this and any secular music can be used to Satanically influence a person to view God in a negative light, if the person subscribes much to the message in these songs, these music styles are like Halloween. Its about putting on really scary grotesque masks to look scary, tough, etc. But its all costumes and play stuff, pretend make believe, just like the kidstuff you used to do in the back yard when you and your buddies ran around with plastic guns and pretended to be real soldiers fighting a real battle. Its really all charades, fantasy, and in short its all put on to gain a loyal following of fans who will financially support you to play music in a band for a living! Hey, don't complain, its the American way! I have more a problem with these phony multimillion dollar goofballs in Hollywood who make a living by pretending to be someone else, and pawn themselves off as something to be taken seriously! Like I really care what such peoples viewpoints are on anything!
But seriously, while content might be disturbing in some songs, the Devil isn't all wrapped up in the Satanic or Death metal music scene. No, that is too vulgar for Him, or rather too obvious, he prefers incognito. Your much more likely to run into him sitting next to you in the pew of your Baptist Church, or running a political rally to get a Neo Conservative Right Wing ,Pro Life, Pro Gun, Pro prayer in schools, "church going" Patriotic Republican candidate so and so elected to office.
In fact, the Antichrist himself will come off as mr. Squeaky Clean, the only problem is that he is indwelt by the Devil himself! No, the Devil does not come at you screaming the lyrics from "Angel of Death" by Slayer, but comes at you as a godly man who says such christian niceties such as "praise the lord"!. He has Christian-eez down pat, and the last place you can expect to find the Devil is at a Slayer concert. Just something to consider.

Sins are a product of human creation to separate what Christians believe to be deviant from what they believe to be sacred and good. When people are scared and do not understand how life has come to exist they tend to follow fables and stories created by others. These fables and stories can become religions or just low key superstitions. Some become Catholic, some Muslim, some Pagan, some Jewish, any belief system works the same. There are so many religions and belief systems out there and depending on where you are born and what your family believes, your views are shaped. Now looking from a religious angle; if your parents listened to metal because it is just a sound that appeals to them and you got into it, no sin. You will never, ever, question if it is a sin or not. If your parents are very religious and despise the different sound, that is metal music, no matter what they are saying, its a sinful act. Because of your parents resentment, for whatever reason, you will feel regret. This regret you believe to be real and comes from your belief in sinful deviance. But not everyone listens to music the same way. If you enjoy the instruments, or the singing/screaming/growling then this music appeals to your liking. You may listen to the music not only for your enjoyment but to rebel against the quasi fascist views of the parents. If you are worried about going to hell for listening to any kind of music then you are mistaken. Now continue to be religious and believe in Jesus, God, Alah, Zeus, Apollo, Lord Zenus, Satan, or whoever your heart desires. The human imagination is beautiful thing. It creates that awesome music you love to listen to and gives you a reason to live. But if I could teach you one thing it is that sins have been committed even by the the most profound leaders and profits of every religion. When The Bible was written in Latin, most of it's believers were illiterate. The priests taught them what to believe, right from wrong, and how much money they should give to the church every week. The beliefs of the ignorant were used to exploit them. The sins you know may not even be the word or the God you believe in. Do not worry yourself too much, this is your only life.
