Rgdg the purchase-location:
I don't think functionality differs as to "where you buy" as long as it is the same model.
Rgdg the steps to configure to other timezone say for eg: GMT+5 etc:
I touchbased with Sony Support(some Rebecca at 10:30 PM PST 4-Jan-2009) for a similar need and after some time, they confirmed me it doesn't work for any other timezones except those that come preset with the unit.
Hope this clarifies.
