No one jazz is still popular but young people are now listning to modern music so jazz is slowly becomming less popular although some kids do like jazz. It is very popular still with the old people who grew up with jazz.
not by a long shot. There may be parts of the world where it isn't popular, but in general, jazz is still popular and, at least in the U.S. there are still a lot of jazz bands playing. I live in a fairly small metro area, and there are 7 or 8 bands that I know of.
The earliest roots of jazz spring from Sunday afternoons in Congo Square in New Orleans. Louisiana slaves were commonly given Sundays off and allowed to play drums in the square. It gradually evolved from there and mixed with gospel, European classical, creole and ragtime to create an entirely new musical genre.
