I met Sid Bell in 1991 the year after he was feathered on the New York State Muzzle Loading stamp hunted and corresponded with him until he passed about four or five years ago. Turned out his clan had become a sect clan of my mine about a thousand years ago he told me. I also have pictures of Sid sitting in the deer camp with a whole spread of his work on the table. Shots of his .45 flintlock which he made by hand from scratch except for the Green Mountain barrel and Sid and I jut standing in front of camp in the Adirondacks. I will try to find out more as to the whereabouts of his collection. I know he had contracts to make butt plates and pistol caps for Browning, Remington, Winchester and Weatherby.
