I questioned Jimmie on this topic back in 1987 and he told me it had always been Van Zant. He also asked who told me that it wasn't Van Zant. I told him that I had heard it from many different sources and wanted him to clear the air for me.
At the time, he was with a band called Impulse and I was taking photos of performances and eventually took videos (see YouTube). I had been to his house a few times and vice versa to piggy back VCR tape decks to make copies of videos I had shot. On one occasion at his home, his father came over, looking very similar to Lacy, whom I had seen on at least 2 other occasions. At that point I figured he had told me the truth about his name.
