A 24 hour news channel demands staff to be working 24 hours each day and to be working across the globe. The financial demands on a news channel are breathtakingly high and that alone rules out most private organizations.

One example of a channel that might be considered private is Bloomberg. Bloomberg is a merchant bank and financial trading company. They also have their own financial news channels. The channels are run from various Bloomberg centers around the world and are produced in house. They are a specialist organization and offer their output to a very specific audience. Because they are so specialized, it may be difficult to classify them as a full news channel. Because of the size of the company behind the channels, it may also be hard to think of them as private channels.
