Help! This tune has been in my head all week-end and I can't remember what musical it is from or the rest of the words. The melody is there, but nothing else.
Actually, that is the name of the song almost. The word can should be changed to could and say to said. It is considered the longest song title in MGM musical history, possibly all music history. It is from the 1951 Musical "Royal Wedding" Music by Burton Lane, Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, Sung by Fred Astaire and Jane Powell. I couldn't seem to answer this on my own so I added it to the answer that was already here.
If you want someone to believe you when you say that you love them, but you've been a liar all of your life, you'll have to prove it. This is a song by Astaire & Powell.
