For beginners probably alto. The notes are just like a soprano recorder too except extra. I play alto but it came easy because I learned recorder in elementary so... yeah altos good!
I used to play an alto saxophone in high school for our pep band. Learning how to play the saxophone taught me patience, perserverance and a love of making my own music. It probably also taught my parents tolerance and patience too as they had to listen to my squaks and bleeps until I got good enough to make actual notes with it :)
A good size saxophone for a little girl is typically an alto saxophone. It is lighter and more manageable than larger saxophones, making it easier for younger players to handle. Generally, alto saxophones are suitable for children aged around 9 and older, but it's important to consider the child's height and strength. For younger children, a soprano saxophone might also be a viable option, but the alto is more common for beginner players.
As a saxophone player myself, I can tell you that you don't need much to play the instrument. I suggest:A neck strapReeds (Around #2 reeds if you are a beginner)An saxophone (obviously)A mouthpieceA saxophone cleaner (basically a wipe on a string)That's about it. Of course music would come in handy, but if you're just practicing getting the notes out then there's no need yet. Good luck!
The flute, because it has the exact same notes as the alto sax, but if its the tenor, then im not sure. The tenor has the same fingerings as an alto, but different notes. If you want the same fingerings, i would suggest the recorder.

If you are just starting to play saxophone in general, the alto is the best place to start.

Good King Wenceslas was the duke of Bohemia in the 10th century.

You should play the either the alto saxophone or the tenor saxophone. The alto is a good size and most 6th graders play this type. The tenor is a little bigger, but not beyond reason. It is less common but just as easy to play.
A good class student saxophone costs about £800 new, but they go all the time for £400-£500 on eBay.
Apparently, Wenceslas never married.
I believe in my opinion that it is a very good saxophone. I have played a weimar alto sax since the beginning of the year. I think it has a good feel. It plays well and if you are thinking of getting one do it.
