Even though the song is now associated with the Christmas, it was actually originally written to be sung for Thanksgiving. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893) and published under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh" in the autumn of 1857 but is now usually called "Jingle Bells".
It is soooooo much fun to ride on a one horse open sleigh. Trust me I've done it before. Its AWESOME!
