Just my opinion, but no. If you decide you don't like it after a time, you've wasted that money and may not be able to sell the guitar at the same price you paid for it. Start small and inexpensive, and work your way up.
Albert King (before he died) played a Gibson Flying V guitar. It was actually a right handed guitar, but he strung it left-handed to suit his needs.
Johnny Ramone played guitar in The Ramones
Tito played lead guitar. Jermaine played rhythm guitar in the early years, then switched to bass guitar.
Chuck Berry played the electric guitar and he also sang.

You should start getting lessons, because there is no use of getting one if you cannot play it. In my opinion, I guess an acoustic guitar is better. Electric guitars are too expensive.
The problem with buying an expensive guitar without any prior experience is this: How do you know what style of music you would like, or how can you tell if the guitar in question is very playable if you don't know how to read a guitar's playability? There is no problem with it if you have a friend who can help you out, though. Have someone experienced give you the OK on the specs of the guitar in question, and perhaps have a style of music in mind. If you know you want to be a blues kind of person, there are guitars for that; if you want screaming bloody metal, there are guitars for that too. Do your research and you can't go wrong. Good luck!
the guitar is played with your fingers and its held on your lap.

It depends how quick you learn. I'd say it should be about two years.

Well, I'd say you should try a saxophone or a guitar because those are quite easy to play...

yes.you just need a different piece for the area where the guitar grip plugs into the DS (which should come with the game)
John Lennon played rhythm guitar and George Harrison played melody.
