One point of view:
It is my firm belief that though I love metal, it isn't good for young children. Metal is a music best left for the later years when maturity starts coming into bloom. Young children can't understand, let alone process, the emotions, and the beliefs that are perpetuated in metal music. I would suggest waiting at least until the children are 15, give or take depending on their maturity level. Please, I implore you, take it from someone who has listened to the worst out there, it isn't good for someone young. My parents made me wait until I was older and now that I've experienced it fully, I'm glad they did. It could have had bad effects on me when I was more impressionable. But now that I have been given time to become strong in my beliefs and such, I am not as easily swayed by music. But don't make the mistake I did, "It's just music" That is one of the most dangerous assumptions, especially about metal. Music is made to express meanings and ideals of the writers. It is made to make you feel certain things. If it doesn't then it hasn't served its purpose. So no, babies should not listen to metal. OR RAP! Try some Mozart!!
Another point of view:
I have found an article that suggests rap and metal music is one of the best musics to sooth colicky babies. (See related link below.)
Not necessarily. Many high-achievers have listened to heavy metal, and a lot of people who don't listen to metal don't become successful. Heavy metal is not a drug, it doesn't suppress the personalities of the people listening to it. If you are a driven person, you will quite likely succeed whether you listen to metal, rap or classical. If you can't be bothered, you probably will fail whether or not you listen to metal.

I don't think it matters if you listen to both or not. You could bring up music in conversation with people and discuss it then, but thats kind of pretentious.
Yes, but mostly heavy metal.
