But... just to let you know... if you have been playing violin for a while then you will have to start ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF YOUR MUSICAL EXPERIENCE because you will have to learn correct posture, bowhold, shifting, new notes, reading music, and MUCH more if you choose to switch. A cello can play in the range of a violin (much of it), if that's what you mean, but a violin's highest note is much higher than a cello's highest note.
