Slavery was an accept part of life for the Sumerians. A slave was the lowest caste in the system. Slave still had rights and could buy their freedom.
Sumerian life was different from life in a small farming community because Sumer was a civilization. The five different traits that define a civilization were all present in Sumer that couldn't possibly exist in a diminutive farming community. Sumer would be closer to the lifestyle today than a small farming community would be. Sumer grew from advanced cities, had complex institutions, developed record-keeping, and applied advanced technology to everyday endeavors, unlike the characteristic traits of a farming community, which would be a band of people living together, with primitive technology and no governing or record keeping, and probably on its way to being a city. A person living in Sumer would probably have a specialized job which he would be an expert in; belong to a social class, and trade to acquire the resources he needs. A person living in a farming community would depend on his own crops and animals for resources, have no defined social class, and would have a job, which would most likely be farming.Areeb UsmaniGrade 9
gave them more jobs but i know this is not very helpful
Sumer is a civilization because it fits all characteristics of a civilization. First, Sumer has a stable food supply (for food for the people). Then, Sumer had a social structure (different social levels and jobs). A system of government (to ensure that life in the society is orderly). Religous system (involves sets of beliefs and forms of worship). Highly developed way of life (includes the arts, painting, architecture, and music). Advances in technology (for example, Sumerians invented the wheel). And last, but not least, a highly developed written language (Sumerians invented Cuneiform). Hope the answer helped! :D - ;)
In Sumer, men and women had distinct social roles, with men typically holding positions of power and authority in public life, such as in government and religion. However, women in Sumer did enjoy certain legal rights and could own property, run businesses, and participate in religious rituals. While there were some areas of equality in terms of legal status, the overall societal structure was patriarchal, limiting women's roles compared to men. Thus, while there were aspects of equality, significant gender disparities still existed.

The ziggurat in Sumer was primarily dedicated to a city's patron deity. Each city-state in Sumer had its own specific god or goddess, and the ziggurat served as a temple complex to honor and worship this divine figure. For example, the Great Ziggurat of Ur was dedicated to the moon god Nanna. These structures were central to the religious and social life of the Sumerians.
Nomads were attracted to Sumer cities for trade opportunities, access to resources, and the protection offered by the city walls against external threats. Additionally, cities provided stability, social structure, and a sense of community that nomadic life often lacked.
