Does guitar class in high school require an acoustic or electric guitar?

The big difference between these types of guitar is that an electric is much quieter than an acoustic. In a high school class full of teenagers a student with an electric guitar will not be able to be heard by the teacher. This is a BIG detriment to one's progression with the instrument. Most classes require an acoustic guitar but technically you can still learn in a group setting with a quieter electric guitar.

Is an acoustics guitar the same as an electric guitar?

No, an acoustic guitar is one not dependent on an external device to be heard but uses a soundboard which is a wooden piece mounted on the front of the guitar's body, while electric guitars can have solid, semi-hollow, or hollow bodies, and produce little sound without amplification

Why were electric guitars invented?

Just to make them louder, the acoustic guitar has a natural volume after which it needed a microphone placed near to it. Eventually someone invented and fitted the pic-up to the guitar.to be heard over brass instruments and drums as they are much louder.so the guitar could be heard in as band with horn players.I'm pretty sure it was Les Paul. I know he designed the first mass produced solid body electric, but idk about all the semi-hollow body guitars before him. They were invented intentionally to amplify the sounds of the acoustic guitar, but the amps kept making different sounds than the sounds the inventors had originally wanted, thus creating the early ancestor of the Fenders, Gibsons, and Ibanezes we all know and love today.
