"I was and still am actually more of a Culture Club/Boy George fan than a Duran Duran fan! They do sound quite alike though with that 80s' pop/new wave sound, which is basically the kind of music that those two 80s' bands were, 100 % pop/new wave which of course really took off in the 80s', that kind of music and still exsists through the 90s', the Y2K decade and also the decade that we're in now, as far as I know it's the 2010s' decade or is it? Anyways, out of the two bands Culture Club and Duran Duran I very much preferred Boy Georges' voice over Simon LeBons' because I found it more soulful! Culture Club/Boy George were also of course the better songwriters who of course wrote that known to be fun song Karma Chameleon! Duran Duran songs were kind of more boring than fun like Culture Clubs' were! C.C. had the more fun songs that people could actually realte to! I thought that they both had interesting dance songs that you could of course dance to and I really liked them all a lot in the 80s' and both their vidoes were just as interesting, of course not just plain and simple though like some other great classic rock bands such as AC/DC and The Police who were actually more known for their music! Anyways, for me C.C. outdoes D.D. for me anyday!

George Michael sold more albums than Duran Duran. As a solo artist, he achieved significant commercial success, with his albums like "Faith" and "Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1" contributing to his impressive sales figures, estimated at over 100 million records worldwide. In contrast, Duran Duran, while also highly successful, has sold around 100 million records as a band. Thus, George Michael's solo career has led to greater overall album sales.
They are more of a pop band.
Andy Taylor isn't a part of the band any more. As far as I've heard as a Duranie, in Andy's book I think, when they brought Red Carpet Massacre or another CD to a recording label, I think Sony, they denied it. He knew that if Sony (or whatever) denied it, then the album wouldn't really be a success such as all of their other albums. Now Dom Brown is the guitarist for Duran Duran. You should get Andy's new book, "Andy Taylor- Wild Boy- My Life In Duran Duran"
Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, The Police, Huey Lewis and The News, The Cars, Daryl Hall and John Oates (though they were a duo), Genesis, Mr. Mister, Fleetwood Mac, The Smiths, The Romantics, Thompson Twins, and many more.

It all depends on what is meant by "successful." Our culture seems to equate being successful with being wealthy. With that definition in mind- they are more successful. If there is any other definition of the word "success"- then it is really up to the observer to decide for themself.
