Many of Stravinsky's works are influenced by Russian Folk Idioms and folk rituals. These are most apparent in "Le Sacre du Printemps" (The Rite of Spring) where is not only used folk tunes in there in entirety but also inverted them and used the retrograde (played backwards). He also called upon Russian folk in his Ballet "Les Noces" (The Wedding) where he yet again used folk tunes and the plot revolved around ritual much like many other of his Ballets.
