Liv Tyler's mother, Bebe Buell, was never married to Stephen Tyler. By the time that Buell had given birth to Liv, Stephen Tyler had broken up with her. Buell told her daughter that her father was Meatloaf, as that was who she was living with at the time of Liv's birth. Later on, Liv found out that Stephen Tyler was her biological father while in her late teens, and proceeded to use his last name. Prior to that she was using the last name Buell, that of her mother.
