As far as I know Jimi was recruited by Chas Chandler in New York City (ex bass of The Animals) who became his manager and brought him to Britain and form The Experience.A new book about Jimi and others was released lately titled 'Rock Roadie' by James 'Tammy' Wright. It has interesting stories.
The "Jimi Hendrix Experience" was a band created by Chas Chandler which was focussed on Jimi Hendrix to give him the means to get his music out to the people, with Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass, both formidable instrumentalists in their own right. Jimi (James Marshall) Hendrix was a unique talent. He had everything against him as a kid, but inspite of everything, he learned guitar and developed his own distinctive sound and style. He was left handed, had long fingers and was able to use his thumb as well. He wrote most of his own material and incorporated some brilliant harmonies between instruments and vocals.
