Yes they met a few times, one of them was when Quincy Jones arranged for them to meet at the Jackson family compound, Michael also showed up backstage at a couple of Prince's shows in the 80's.

While not friends, it was more likely friendly rivals. Rumor has it Bad was supposed to be a duet between Prince and Michael Jackson, but Prince declined due to lyrical content. He would not play second fiddle to no one, let alone the King of Pop. Recently members of Prince's bands have told numerous stories of Prince and Michael Jackson playing Basketball and ping pong at Paisley Park. Michael even recently appeared at Prince's 3121 club in Las Vegas in 2007 with Will.I.Am and had discussions with Prince on working together. But nothing came of it.
