A violin has many parts. The body is made out of wood which is most often Maple. The fingerboard, chin-rest and pegs are made out of Ebony. The main woods are spruce for the top (front) and maple for the back. There is also spruce or willow used for the inside blocks and linings. Tail piece, button and pegs are made out of dense wood, such as ebony, boxwood or rosewood. Fingerboard is made from ebony.
