In the 1980s, Vince Clarke achieved top 10 hits with two bands: Depeche Mode and Erasure. He was a founding member of Depeche Mode, which had several hits during the early part of the decade, and later formed Erasure, which also enjoyed substantial success throughout the 80s. Clarke's contributions to both bands significantly shaped the synth-pop genre during that era.

Music has taken a diffrent turn since the 70s and 80s, most LSD bands are either underground, or undercover. I would suggest Tool, RadioHead, or the Flaming Lips for popular LSD inspired music.
