D.P.C., or Damp Proof Course, serves several critical functions in a building. Its primary role is to prevent moisture from rising through the walls and floors, protecting the structure from damp-related issues such as mold and deterioration. Additionally, D.P.C. helps maintain indoor air quality and enhances the longevity of building materials. It also contributes to the overall energy efficiency of the building by reducing thermal bridging and moisture infiltration.

Full form of DPC is Damp Proff Course which will be applied at the baement level or preventing dampness to the building..
According to Building Control Regulations, the DPC should be a minimum of 150mm above external finished ground level.
DPC, or Damp Proof Course, is a barrier installed in buildings to prevent moisture from rising through the walls and floors. Typically made of materials like bitumen, plastic, or slate, it is positioned at least 150 mm above ground level to protect the structure from dampness and potential damage. Proper installation of DPC is crucial for maintaining the integrity and longevity of a building.

Damp Proof Course is one meaning.
DPC is damp proof course to prevent water getting into the interior of the building. Vertical allows the water to pass up or down while horizontal allows it to pass left or right.
Meaning: Damp Proof course Bricklayers are responsible for building-in damp-proof courses and cavity trays to prevent the penetration of rainwater and ground moisture. If the installation of a damp-proof course (DPC) is not done with skill, care and attention, dampness may cause: • Timber to rot. • Plaster to deteriorate. • The effectiveness of any thermal insulation to be reduced. Repairing any damage caused by dampness can prove to be very expensive and distressing to the occupants of the building. The provision of a DPC in a building, or a free standing wall, is intended to provide a barrier to the passage of water from: • The exterior to the interior of the building. • The ground to the structure. • One part of the structure to another. This passage of water may be horizontal, upwards or downwards and, if measures to counteract it are not taken with care, dampness may result and the effectiveness of thermal insulation may be reduced.
DPC(damproof course) is an horizontal barrier in a wall designed to prevent moisture rising from the structute of the capilary action.

Cells are the basic building blocks of all living things. They are responsible for carrying out functions needed to sustain life, such as growth, reproduction, and responding to stimuli. Cells are composed of various organelles that work together to maintain the cell's functions.
Traditonal DPC's are considered the most reliable form of preventing groundwater ingress, but are really only suitable for newly erected walls. Traditional DPC is easy to install and quick too, along the bed where you are putting the DPC into, take about 5 bricks out at a time and place the DPC on the lower bricks then bed back in the bricks, keep doing this step till you do all the wall.
