There are endless possibilities, but these are some of my favorites. For jazz, look for JJ Johnson/Kai Winding solos- "Don't Argue" was my favorite. "My Favorite Things" is also a good one, along with "When I Fall In Love". "What a wonderful world" sounds great, but its not necessarily jazz. For big band solos, my favorites are Duke Ellington/Count Basie's "Battle Royale" and Woody Herman's "Bijou" and "My Favorite Things".
Haydn, Hummel, and basically every major composer wrote Trumpet solos, duets, and ensembles during the classical, baroque, romantic, etc eras. But, there are plenty of other trumpet pieces. The Haydn and Hummel trumpet concertos are two of the most famous from the classical era.
One is Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat band "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes."

This question makes no sense. The trombone player plays the trombone. In jazz bands, the trombone plays in the tenor range, below the trumpet, and in large bands, the entire trombone section often plays together as a section. In small combos (trombone, trumpet, sax, plus rhythm section), the trombone serves as a lower, alternate voice to the other instruments. One advantage to the trombone is the "sliding" or glissando effect often heard in jazz music.
Solo Improvisation.
In a band, take jazz for example, a trumpet solo can be a great experience to listen to. You can play it solo but eventually a musical group will use it. I have heard trumpets played solo and they are a magnificent instrument after a required time of study and practice.

The trombone usually plays in a group unless the person who is playing it is doing a solo(dancing/singing/playing an instrument on your own).
