In her best interests, I would bring treats and small gifts when I go to tutor her to make her like you and then reward her when she does well.

if i were you then i would show her some new methods and fun ways to learn. build a relationship that's good, and i know you and her will get better.

I suggest getting to know her likes. If she isn't willing to share with you her favorite things in life, ask her mom, brother, teacher, etc. Tap into what interests her. Create schoolwork personalized for her- for example create math story problems of people she knows, princesses she likes, sports she plays, etc. She might just be shy or not like the idea of having to do extra school work. Concentrate on building a relationship with her by being interested in what she is interested in. Most of all, be sincere. Kids seem to have a 6th sense about people who are going through the motions and people who are genuine.
