I've counted at least eight discrete guitar parts in Hotel California ( not counting the bass) 1 - Acoustic 6 string 2 - 12 string electrics 5 - 6 string electrics
I believe Amos Heller plays his 5-string upright on this song. You can play any song with a 4 or 5 string bass, but it might not sound right. The main verse is played C - F - Am - F which would sound best on a 5-string with the low C on the B string. Playing the C on the A string might not sound right, but it's worth a try. You could fake it on a 4 string by tuning your low E down to C which would put the F on the 5th fret/position. I've done it before I got my 5-string.
Theoretically there is 75000 different note combinations (chords) for a 24-fret/6-string guitar possible not including harmonics, alternate fingerings, etc. and no, I am not kidding. What I did was multiplied all of the individual notes that you can play on an regular 6-string like so, 5*5*5*5*5*24 ( which is E-string * A-string * D-string * G-string * B-string * e-string) and that equals 75000 chords. ,- Roxas Riku
The top 5 string instruments commonly used in orchestras and ensembles are the violin, viola, cello, double bass, and harp.

Yes technically, it is. I answer this from my homework A rock band has 5 members and 2 over 5 of the members play string instruments. Also 0.4 of the members sing. Does the band have the same number of string instrument players as singers? Explain. I'm working on explaining it though.... My Youtube account is Rymackinator
