There are many folk instruments that I am not familiar with, so here is a list of the more common types of flutes that are currently used and sold:
a harmony flute is like a bass flute or an alto flute meanwhile a regular flute is anything other than those types : )

Ah, well, there are a lot. If you're just talking modern flutes, there's the regular Flute, the Western concert flute. Then there's the familiar piccolo, bass and alto. There are also more rare types, like treble, soprano, contra-alto, contrabass, subcontrabass, double contrabass, and hyperbass. That's eleven. Then I'm not sure if you want to include less modern flutes like the pan flute and the Greek double flute. If that's the case, the list might go on forever, as the flute is a very old instrument and nearly every major civilization created their own take on it.
There are different hand position for playing a flute. It depends on what you are trying to play on the flute.
Flute mutes are devices used by musicians to alter the sound of the flute. The main types of flute mutes are practice mutes, which reduce the volume for quiet practice, and performance mutes, which can change the tone or color of the sound for different musical effects.
Some different types of musical instruments that can be used to play melodies like the flute include the piano, violin, guitar, saxophone, and clarinet.
The different types of flute-like instruments used in traditional music around the world include the Native American flute, the Chinese dizi, the Indian bansuri, the Irish tin whistle, and the Andean quena.

Some examples of singing sounds produced by different types of birds include the melodious songs of thrushes, the cheerful chirping of sparrows, the flute-like calls of warblers, and the haunting calls of owls.
The different types of alto instruments include the alto saxophone, alto clarinet, and alto flute. These instruments differ in their size, shape, and the way they produce sound. The alto saxophone is a brass instrument with a single reed mouthpiece, the alto clarinet is a woodwind instrument with a cylindrical bore and a single reed mouthpiece, and the alto flute is a woodwind instrument with a curved headjoint and a larger size than the standard flute. Each instrument has its own unique sound and playing technique.
