The crow family is all belong to the sub family Corvinae. They are regarded as the most intelligent type of birds. A group of crows is called a flock or murder.

Crows in particular are large robust birds with a short tail.

In sunlight, the plumage can show a blue or purple sheen which is due to iridescence. They are ashy-grey to black and average weight is 510g. Tail and primary wing feathers are stiff.
