the heavier the more durable , I hated walking to the guitar store because it was about an hours walk. So I picked up a set of 13-56 strings and they lasted twice as long and that's all I play now. You can still play standard but its really difficult. So try different brands and see if they last longer if its too hard.

stay away from Fender Super Bullets, Dean Markley Blue Steel and I had a bad experience with Not even slinky Ernie Ball.. so GHS or D'Addario over anything.
