Here are opinions and answers from FAQ Farmers: Green Day was orgionally known as 'Sweet Children', and formed in 1988. One of their first gigs was at a High School in Willits California, but only five kids turned up for the show, and there was no electricity in the house. Sweet Children had to play using candlelight and a generator. They changed their name to Green Day in 1989 just after receiving a record deal. The name was slang for a day spent smoking marijuana. When Green Day were called Sweet Children, they were just a duet (made up of Mike and Billie Joe), they changed their name to Green Day after drummer John Kiffmeyer (AKA Al Sobrante) joined the line-up. Green Day has released material under two other band names: The Network, and Foxboro Hot Tubs.
It was at Milton Keynes, 65,000 each day(two days), which would be 135,000 in the total two days.
No. Green Day is not touring. However, when their new album is released, they will most likely go on tour which is in the next year or two.
Yes!! The first time I heard it, I recognized it as Homecoming. I love Green Day!! The tune is the same. The lyrics "you said hey, what's your name" are like "what the hell's your name" from Homecoming. Also the guitar chords are the same (F#5, E5, A5) are the same too. Avril lavigne has copied Green Day almost exactly!!
Weezer's Pinkerton came out in 1996. By that time Green Day had had two major albums "Dookie" and "Insomniac" out, along with "39/Smooth" and "Kerplunk." Insomniac" was Green Day's most recent album when Weezer's "Pinkerton" came out. In "El Scorcho" on "Pinkerton" Rivers Cuomo sings about how a girl he knew had never heard of Green Day
Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool are the other two members of Green day. Mike Dirnt (real name Michael Pritchard) is the bassist, and Tre Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III) is the drummer. Also Al Sobronto aka John Kiffmeyer

Green is the traditional colour worn for two main reasons:Green is the colour of the shamrock, Ireland's 'flower' or symbol and has therefore been adopted as the national colour.Ireland's poetic name of the 'Emerald Isle' probably comes from its appearance from the sea as a predominantly green land. All other references to green are likely to derive from one or both of these facts.
