A wise observation! It is obvious the way the story line jumps arond- the actual suicide does not occur in the song, it is also not clear whether the title character is a man or a woman, after mature thought, methinks it was a Girl. Song could use a couple of more verses to tie things together, plot wise. There is also an apparent jump in ( totally different type of song) The Little Drummer Boy- which could have used a more plotful versing.
