I was there! Stray Cats baby!
Yes! I saw them, Santana was the lead bill. In the 70s, most shows had 3 bands on the bill, for 6 or 7 $. I dont remember who or if there were 3 bands that night, it was in 75 or 76 during the school year.

Avenged Sevenfold is probably the biggest name they've ever opened for, but they only did that for one show at Edgefest in Little Rock, AR. They've opened for Stone Sour and Theory of a Deadman on the Avalanche Tour. On their Christian music side, though, they're pretty much as big as it gets, so most bands have to open for them. The only exception I know of is they opened for tobymac for a few shows.
Salvador Santana, Stella Santana, and Angelica Santana.
She has opened for Pussycat Dolls and stole the show. She's also opened for New Kids on The Block. She's written songs for both bands as well.
