Yes, all karaoke machines display the lyrics.
It is gadgetry that displays a whiz-bang. It will also display a flu-flaw, shim-sham and a hunga-dunga. Be care not to display a finortner rod, they are unstable.
Does the display just dim or does it go off? There is a light sensor on the front of the system that is used to automatically adjust the brightness of the display to match surrounding/external light levels. For example, if it's placed in a dark room then the display dims and if it's placed in a well lit room the display gets brighter.

No. The current (as of September 23, 2011) Mac Pro model does not feature Thunderbolt ports; only the newest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac models do. However, the 27-inch LCD Cinema Display is still available for sale at Apple Stores and stores that carry Apple products, for the same price as the Thunderbolt display: $999. The LCD Cinema Display requires only a Mini-DisplayPort connection, the immediate predecessor to the Thunderbolt port.
No DisplayPort is a digital display interface standard put forth by the Video Electronics Standards Association

It's unlikely that HDMI based video will work with a DisplayPort input. Although DisplayPort can be connected to an HDMI input with a passive adaptor, DisplayPort does not support broadcast color space such as YUV. HDMI can accept and display the RGB format used by DisplayPort but DisplayPort cannot handle YUV which is typically output from a Bluray player. DisplayPort is an emerging standard and during the time it is being implemented, there will be numerous practical adaptations to the capabilities of DisplayPort. For that reason, this answer may not be valid in the future. Indeed, it is likely that there are already products that can handle YUV so the only sure way to find out if it works is to try it.
