A guitar preamp is basically a guitar amplifier, but without the power amplifier section that drives the speaker. A typical guitar amplifier consists of two components: the preamp and the power amp. The preamp is responsible for generating most of the characteristics of the guitar tone. The power amp receives the output signal from the preamp, then raises it's level enough to drive a speaker so the guitar becomes audible.
Physically, a guitar preamp can be an independent rack-mountable unit, a digital device (such as a Line6 POD), a floor pedal, or even circuitry inside the guitar itself.
It provides four separate, tube-driven Lead channel preamps (Clean, Classic, Crunch, WAV).

The difference between an electric guitar and an air guitar is a electric guitar is an actual guitar and an air guitar is imaginary. An air guitar is when people pretend to play a guitar with hand movements. An electric guitar converts vibrations of its steelcorded strings into electric current. These currents then go to a amplifier to make them louder.
A hollow guitar is called an Acoustic guitar.
The Digi 002, which is a Pro Tools recording interface made by Digidesign, has four mic preamps.
It is not ideal to plug headphones into the "to amp" output but it will work and nothing bad will happen. Many preamps are available with dedicated headphone outputs along with an appropriate volume control.
There are many places online to buy a preamp. Amazon sell a range of preamp products including ultra compact preamps. The site Preamp also stocks a wide range of preamps.

Yes, on the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Generation audio interface, the line inputs on the rear (inputs 3 and 4) are typically designed to bypass the preamps. This means that when you connect a device to these inputs, the signal will go directly into your recording software without passing through the built-in preamplifiers. This is useful when you have external preamps or devices that you want to use instead of the Scarlett's preamps for those inputs. It allows you to have more control over your audio signal chain.
Yes but the higher notes would be very weak.
In the low end, Alesis used to make a 8-channel ADC without preamps. The first model was 16-bit (AI2), the later model was 24-bit (AI3). Currently, the RME ADI-8DS is a high-end 8-channel AD/DA without preamps.

Why not ? It' s not specific for Ibanez. It is not even made by Ibanez but by Fishman who are making these preamps for all brands, may they be Martin or Washburn or Crafter, etc. BUT if you had a preamp in your Washburn before that is broke you should replace it by the exact same product in order to use the old footprint of the unit.
the cheapest way I've done it is with a Line 6 Pod XT has this setting called variax which makes electric guitars , it's not 100% as it's digitally modeling (Resembling) an acoustic sound but it does a pretty good job. acoustic preamps and piezo pickups do help too but it can get very expensive
