To my knowledge there are no hand signals. I've grown up in Baptist churches. The ushers just do stuff like collect offering/tithe, greet people, hand out bulletins, and such.
Well, it depends on the individual church. Some Baptist churches sing the same songs as most Pentecostal churches (except for songs that talk about Holy Spirit baptism--unless it's a Charismatic Baptist church). And, some non-Pentecostal churches don't sing songs about the blood of Christ. Other than that, in general, the songs are about the same.
Ushers typically wear black and white to convey a sense of formality and professionalism, which enhances the overall atmosphere of events such as weddings, theater performances, or religious services. The black and white color scheme is universally recognized and reflects neutrality, allowing ushers to blend in while still being distinguishable as staff members. This attire signifies respect for the occasion and helps maintain a cohesive aesthetic.
There is not a difference, all Gods children are holy no matter what the denomination!
Yes, ushers in some historical churches did carry sticks or rods to gently prod or wake parishioners who fell asleep during services. This practice was more common in earlier centuries when maintaining decorum in worship was considered very important. The intent was to ensure that attendees remained attentive and respectful during the service. However, this practice is largely viewed as outdated and is not commonly seen in modern churches today.
I do not believe there is any standard that ushers in Baptist churches wear gloves. I have not seen ushers wear gloves except in black churches.
Baptist church ushers typically wear formal attire, such as suits for men and dresses or suits for women. However, the specific dress code can vary depending on the individual church's traditions and guidelines. So, if you're planning on ushering at a Baptist church, it's best to check with the church leadership to see what they expect you to wear.
The same reason that Presidents, coaches, businessmen, and other people wear suits. It shows that you are a professional, respectable person. It is not a requirement in the Bible but an expectation of society.
