This term is also used as a type of composition that is binary, played playfully but with other expressive contrasting passages such as "Maestoso", adagio, etc. It is somewhat of a free form and as for the scherzi compositions is used for virtuosity expression. Therefore, this type of composition has a title that does not necessarily express strictly playfulness. But so were Chopin's sonata.
