The true meaning of the popular AC/DC song "Highway to Hell" has been long debated. The song has been associated from a wide variety of subjects, mainly the occult and devil worship.

However, the official explanation from the band states that the song is about the toils and hardships of life on the road for a Rock band.

In an interview with Guitar World Magazine, guitarist Angus Young summed it up best. "[It is] a (expletive) highway to hell! When you are out on the road on a bus sleeping with a guy's smelly sock in your face, it's like you're on the highway to hell."

Additionally, band members have long denied rumors that the song is about Satan or Satanism. Additionally, Malcolm Young has went so far as to say, "Me mum would kill me for that!" when addressing the song's alleged occult nature.
