- I agree that panic at the disco is emo/pop but I hate when people consider it alternative punk or pop/punk
- It is emo/pop (especially because of his 2º album), but i think the actual genre is alternative emo-punk, because is one of those bands who use dark lyrics and a lot of instruments ( bass, drums ,violin , synthesizer, and the most notable the piano).

∙ 14y agoBased on the genres provided on wikipedia, it would fall under alternative rock, pop punk, and baroque pop. The top tags on last.fm are rock, alternative, indie, alternative rock, and emo. Because the band rejects the emo label and the emo label usually applies to a genre of music that was at its height in the 90s with such bands as Sunny Day real estate and Rites of Spring, it is conclusive that Panic at the Disco is an alt rock band. Also, because the emo label is commonly attributed to modern pop punk bands, they also fall under the genre of pop punk which is more fitting than just alternative rock.
