We have different kinds of music because it was interpreted differently in different places.

For example, early African music is based on vocal samples and drum rhythms, however Indian music is recognised for its Sitar and improvisation, with early music in other places being very classical and orchestra based.

We only started to hear other countries' music when we could send it or get over there; it just turned out we had all been developing the same thing - just in different styles.
